#stopcyberbullying
I wish words would leave a mark:
every comment a blue bruise,
or vicious cut, even a blistered burn.
There's something urgent in the physical,
not this silent tide of hate.
Taunting Messages, mocking pictures,
hate campaign hashtags,
fake profiles, tormenting videos,
dripping notification by notification
in my pocket, following me around
on the bus, in school, at home.
Jeers on the street I could run from,
a shove to the floor I could rise from,
a punch to the face I could treat,
its swelling around my eye
says enough to the world:
someone hurt me.
Where's the escape from this online beating:
I’m told with shrugs,
‘it's just pixels on a screen,
not a blue bruise,
a vicious cut.’
